Cross-sectional survey Overview

Survey Background

  • General survey has operated since 2009 to resolve problems when a survey in a separate research has been conducted independently. (example: small sample design due to the constraints of research cost, decrease in representativeness and reliability of analysis results due to small sample research, decrease in research efficiency due to overlapping questionnaire content between tasks, and wasted research cost, etc.)
  • To improve the efficiency of the survey administration and the representativeness and reliability of the survey results, since 2009, NYPI has gathered individual research projects, especially those that plan nation-wide surveys for schools, to jointly design a frame for sampling for the survey. When necessary, questionnaires among projects have been integrated, and surveys have been conducted using them.

Survey Method

  • General survey of the year is planned from research projects planning schools across the country
  • Research projects participating in the General survey design a sampling frame together and conduct a survey on elementary, middle and high schools across the country which are extracted from the sampling frame. Based on survey subject and topic, questionnaire integration between tasks may occur.
  • To manage the survey schedule, data management, and improve the reliability of the survey content, a surveyor of a survey company familiar with the survey guidelines visits sampled schools across the country and conducts a survey.

Survey Result

  • Survey cost and overall administrative efficiency are improved through the operation of the factual survey in an integrated manner.
  • Improved reliability of statistical data by solving the problem of representativeness of survey results resulting from small sample surveys
  • Increased value as objective basic data for evidence-based policy establishment
